Buddy

My little sister, Whittney, decided that she wanted to get us a dog for a wedding present. Danny's dog had died just before we got married, so he was OK with getting another dog. We went to the animal shelter here in Idaho Falls and told them that we wanted the biggest dog they had. They took us back and showed us this 111 lb. Akita Mix named Bud. We took him out in the yard and played ball with him for a while until we decided that we wanted to take him. The girl that was helping us was kind of sad because she had been working with him and just fell in love with him. She kept feeding him dog treats (which was a bad idea for the ride home when he threw them all up on the floor of my car). The officer who was working at the desk didn't think I was going to be able to take care of the dog, so he kept hesitating and giving me excuses. I told him that we were newlyweds and we lived out in the country where he would have tons of room. He said he would have to call his supervisor. After a while of sitting and waiting he finally told us that we could take him, but he gave me a lecture before we could leave. We renamed him Buddy and he was one of the best dogs. He must have had some kind of training before he went to the pound because he obeyed very well. We only had him for two years before he disappeared (something that happens out here in the country a little too often).
